The Update | Midtown Men at Westminster; Olde Fashioned Christmas at Lanterman’s

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. — The Midtown Men will help Westminster College kick off the holiday season when they take to the Orr Auditorium stage at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 4.

Reuniting stars from the Broadway smash hit “Jersey Boys,” the Midtown Men will ring in the Christmas season with their “Holiday Hits” show. The evening of songs and stories will feature Yuletide classics such as “Winter Wonderland,” “Let It Snow,” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” as well as their signature renditions of rock ‘n’ roll hits of the 1960s. 

The vocal group will perform the songs of The Beatles, The Temptations, The Four Seasons and more, and sing their holiday single, “All Alone on Christmas.”

Olde Fashioned Christmas at Lanterman’s

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — The annual Olde Fashioned Christmas at Lanterman’s Mill will take place Saturday, Nov. 27, and Sunday, Nov. 28, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The restored grist mill in Mill Creek Park will be decorated in holiday finery for this traditional, family-friendly, free admission event. Guests can taste chestnuts roasted on an open fire, purchase unique handcrafted gifts, watch “A Christmas Story” movie on the big screen, and visit with Santa. Children can also do crafts.

Santa will arrive at the mill at noon Saturday. 

To share the holiday spirit with others, consider bringing a new hat, scarf or pair of mittens to decorate the “Giving Tree.” Donated items will warm up local children in need this winter.

Learn About Santa at Brunch

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio — Want to learn about Santa Claus the saint as well as the gift-giver? Take a trip back in time and across the continents to experience the original old-world European tradition of St. Nicholas during a family-friendly brunch on Dec. 4 at the Youngstown Saxon Club, 710 S. Meridian Road, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The brunch will be catered by Inspired Catering by Kravitz.

The festive and fun event will explore the life and legend of the man who went from saint to Santa through his good deeds and love of children. Complete with activities, food, drink, storytelling and song, this event could become a meaningful and treasured family tradition. 

Donations of new shoes and socks for the women and children served by Beatitude House will be accepted. All donors will be entered into a drawing for a gingerbread house.

Prices are:

  • $28.95 for adults.  
  • $25 for Saxon Club members.
  • $14.50 for children 5-13.
  • Free for children under 5.
