Valley Industrial Trucks Donates $25,000 to Golden String Gabbacamp
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — Valley Industrial Trucks, a dealer in material handling equipment has donated $25,000 to Golden String Inc. and its Gabbacamp project.
The money will help fund construction of a cabin at Gabbacamp. The donation was made in memory of James Cipriano, a long-time employee at Valley Industrial Trucks who died in 2013. Cipriano was born in 1962 with Down syndrome and worked as a custodian at VIT for more than 20 years.
“It is a great honor to support Jim Sutman and The Golden String and help adults with disabilities,” said Jim Hammond, owner of Valley Industrial Trucks. “Giving back to our community is an integral part of our culture at VIT and we have supported The Golden String for many years. I am hoping that we can help raise awareness so others will see how important the work is that Mr. Sutman does.”
Golden String serves area adults with disabilities such as autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome and traumatic brain injury by providing job opportunities and organizing social events and vacations.
Gabbacamp is one such vacation spot, where friends with disabilities can participate in camp activities such as swimming, farming, educational classes and equine therapy.
