CityScape to Honor YSU Alumni at 2022 Grass Roots Gala
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — Youngstown CityScape will award the Sweet Grass Roots Award at the 12th annual Grass Roots Gala on Feb. 24.
Named after former Youngstown State University President David C. Sweet and his wife, Pat, will be presented at the event honoring YSU alumni, according to a release. The event will be held at the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica social hall at 343 via Mt. Carmel Ave., and will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a social hour followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m.
“This year’s Sweet Grass Roots Award recognizes YSU alumni’s long, rich tradition of partnership and service in the downtown community,” Sharon Letson, executive director of Youngstown CityScape, said in the release. “2022 marks the 25th anniversary of our annual Streetscape events and is the perfect opportunity for CityScape to celebrate YSU alumni’s dedication and encourage their ongoing participation in all the exciting downtown beautification efforts.”
Since 2010, CityScape has awarded the Sweet Grass Roots Award to an individual or group who has made significant personal and professional commitment to the organization’s mission of revitalizing downtown Youngstown, according to the release. YSU alumni have partnered with CityScape throughout its 25-year history.
Tickets are $65 per person and include dinner, entertainment and cash bar. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Youngstown CityScape Endowment Fund, a component fund of the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley.
