Beyer Named President/Principal of Cardinal Mooney High School

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Most Reverend David J. Bonnar, bishop of Youngstown, announced his appointment Thursday of Nick Beyer as president and principal of Cardinal Mooney High School, effective July 1.

Beyer will be responsible for working with the stakeholders of Cardinal Mooney High School, including the board of directors, alumni, school administration and faculty to continue the long-standing mission of “Sanctity, Scholarship, and Discipline,” Bonnar said.

Beyer is currently principal at Beaumont School in Cleveland Heights, where he previously served as dean of academics and led the school to become the first all-girl International Baccalaureate World School in northeast Ohio. For the first seven years of his career in education, Beyer taught social studies and was department chair at Benedictine High School in Cleveland.

Beyer attended St. Gabriel Elementary School and Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin High School in the Cleveland area. He is a graduate of Bowling Green State University with a B.S. in education. He earned his master’s in educational administration from John Carroll University. More recently, he completed a post-master program at Ursuline College.

Beyer succeeds Thomas Maj as president and Mary Anne Beiting as principal. Both have contributed over 40 years to Catholic education as teachers and administrators.
