Mill Creek MetroParks Hosts 7th Annual Junior Golf All-Star Tournament
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — Mill Creek MetroParks has reached a multi-year title sponsorship agreement for the 7th Annual American Junior Golf Association Junior All-Star Golf Tournament at Mill Creek Golf Course.
Sponsors include the Mercy Health Foundation of the Mahoning Valley, Farmers Trust Co., the Howard and Jeanne Karr Charitable Foundation, Meridian Healthcare and other organizations
The four-year sponsorship agreement includes contributions of $25,000 per year and succeeds an agreement with the Mahoning Valley Hospital Foundation, which served as the tournament title sponsor between 2018 and 2021.
“We’re excited to have this partnership which collaborates to support this wonderful event that does so much financially for the Mahoning Valley,” says Brian Tolnar, PGA golf and recreation director at Mill Creek. “The community has enthusiastically embraced the event since its inception in 2016. This event continues to showcase the MetroParks on a national level.”
The tournament this year will take place on Mill Creek’s South Golf Course from June 19 through 24 and will consist of a two-part tournament series, a pre-season tournament and All Star tournament.
Since Mill Creek first hosted the Junior All Star Tournament six years ago, officials say the event has had a financial impact of approximately $2 million on the local economy through hotel stays, dining, shopping, and more than $70,000 toward local charities.
An AJGA Junior Amateur Tournament will be held on June 20 for those wishing to play with one of the top junior golfers from around the world. Information regarding the schedule of events can be found at www.ajga.org.
