Scrappers, Air Reserve Station Team up for Game Events
NILES, Ohio –The Mahoning Valley Scrappers and Youngstown Air Reserve Station, home of the 910th Airlift Wing, will team up this season for Operation Fly Together.
The campaign will celebrate the massive C-130 Hercules cargo aircraft based at YARS and increase awareness of the 910th Airlift Wing. Reserve airmen, civilians and thousands of veterans within 50 miles of the base will be part of the effort.
The Scrappers will host Operation Fly Together Night on Saturday, Aug. 6, during the game at Eastwood Field. A new patch and logo will be used on the sleeve of the team’s specialty game jersey that day. A new team cap featuring a logo inspired by the YARS mascot, Winger, will be worn by players for the game, and new merchandise featuring the patch and the Winger logo will be available for purchase at the team store. During the game, there will be an online auction of the game-worn specialty jerseys and caps, and information displays will be set up in the concourse.
Members of the 910th will participate in game activities such as singing the National Anthem, the ceremonial first pitch, and the pregame ceremony.
Other efforts this season will include an Operation Fly Together flag that will be unveiled on all military appreciation nights. Military members can get two free tickets to all Wednesday home games.
