HD Davis Becomes Community Resource with New Headquarters
LIBERTY, Ohio — More than a stylish office, the new headquarters for HD Davis CPAs and White Glove Payroll is an educational hub for the firm’s clients and the community at large.
“We first started as a tax business, we evolved to be a CPA firm and now we’ve evolved to be an advisory firm,” said Tim Petrey, managing partner of both companies.
“A lot of what we do is based on being an educational resource for our clients and our community. We were out there aggressively during the pandemic trying to educate people about the government programs,” he said.
As such, the newly renovated building, 4308 Belmont Ave., houses a classroom space where the firm can host educational sessions for its clients and employees.
Down the hall sits the firm’s studio space, complete with podcast and video production equipment, where employees can create content for their niche specialties to share with their clients.
HD Davis and White Glove Payroll celebrated the grand opening of the new 7,300-square-foot space with a ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday evening.
Petrey and business partner Joe Kilgore purchased the professional building and the adjacent Churchill Park Business Plaza in October 2021, after searching for a new office for years.
Their former office was just down the road on the corner of Churchill Road and Belmont Avenue.
Kilgore said they spent a little over $2 million to purchase the property and renovate the office space, which was formerly a doctor’s office.
“It had plenty of offices, which is kind of what we wanted and we could see the vision.”
Construction began in December 2021. The project was completed using only local vendors.
“That was really important. These are our clients so it was really important that we help them out,” Kilgore said.
Joe Koch Construction was the general contractor. Other vendors include: Rossi Painting & Fry Painting, Herks Flooring LLC & Cabinets, Performance Hardworks: Joel Feaster, Komar Anchor Service, CR Electric Inc., Pro Quality Lawn Care, Alexander Concrete Coatings LLC, Roll’en Painting: Jay Dennick and Majestic Roofing.
“We’re putting that back into the community here,” Kilgore said.
“It’s a good area. It’s right off the highway so it’s easy to get in and out.”
HD Davis CPAs was started by founding partner Harold Davis in 2006. “A lot of what we do today is based on the foundations that Harold had in place,” Petrey said.
Off to the left of the main entrance is a tribute to Davis, who was at the ceremony Thursday but is no longer involved in the day-to-day operations.
The founders wall features a life-size painting of Davis with a golden harmonica, which a single employee will be given every year.
“He’s an outstanding harmonica player,” Petrey explained.
“He’s an accountant by day and a musician by night.”
Employees will decide who receives the harmonica by voting on who they feel best embodies the work ethic of Davis.
“Harold was always a great cheerleader for this community. He was somebody that always believed in this town,” Petrey said.
“And he never really took himself too seriously.”
