Vehicle Sales Drop Among Local Buyers in July
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Sales of new and used vehicles to customers in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties fell in July compared to the same period the previous year, according to the Cleveland Area Automobile Dealers’ Association.
New and used vehicle sales stood at 4,405 units during July compared to 5,077 sold in the same month in 2021, a drop of 13.2%, the organization reported.
New vehicle sales were down 18.5% among local buyers, as dealers in July sold 1,992 new cars and trucks compared to 2,445 sold in July 2021.
Sales of used vehicles fared better, but were still below year-ago numbers, the dealers’ association reported. Dealers sold 2,363 used vehicles to local residents in July compared to 2,555 during the same period last year, a decrease of 7.5%.
Among new vehicle dealerships, Sweeney Chevrolet, Boardman, registered the most new vehicle sales to residents of the three-county region. Sweeney sold 133 new vehicles, the dealers’ association reported.
Taylor Kia, Boardman, posted the second-highest volume sales in July with 125; Stadium Chevrolet Buick GMC Cadillac, Columbiana, saw the third-best sales at 108 new units sold; Greenwood Chevrolet, Austintown, sold the fourth highest units at 106; and Boardman Subaru rounded out the fifth highest new sales at 97 sold.
