Penguin City Rolls Out Oktober Festbier
YOUNGSTOWN – Penguin City Brewing Co. will release its first seasonal beer made in its new facility downtown.
Penguin City Oktober Festbier will be available in the region beginning Thursday, Sept. 1.
The new brew – a German style lager – comes in a can with art inspired by the two fall holidays of Oktoberfest and Halloween, according to a press release from the company.
Michael Pontikos, brand manager of Penguin City Beer, designed the can.
“We have been anxiously awaiting to release our first seasonal,” said Aspasia Lyras-Bernacki, co-owner of Penguin City Brewing Co. Getting the new facility ready to open took longer than expected, Lyras-Bernacki said, adding, ‘but now we are ready to crank out more seasonals and beers for our taproom and for distribution.”
Oktober Festbier will be available in the taproom and in stores across the Valley. To celebrate, Penguin City will present an Oktoberfest on Sept. 17 with food, music, giveaways and music by Del Sinchak.
Penguin City Brewing Co. purchased a 32,000-square-foot warehouse last year and renovated it into a brewery, taproom, and event center. It was originally scheduled to open in May, but delays pushed the opening to July.
