Local Vehicle Sales Slip in September
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Residents of Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties purchased fewer new and used vehicles in September 2022 compared to the previous year, according to the most recent report from the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers’ Association.
Dealers sold a total of 4,260 new and used vehicles last month compared to 4,681 during the same period a year ago, a drop of 8.9%, the report shows.
New vehicle sales were down compared to 2021, according to the report. In September 2022, dealers sold a total of 1,964 new cars and trucks to customers as opposed to 2,136 during September 2021, a decline of 8.7%.
Sales of used vehicles also fell during the month, the dealers report shows. Dealers recorded 2,240 sales compared to 2,482 units sold in September 2021, a decrease of 10.8%, the report said.
Boardman Subaru reported the highest volume of new vehicle sales for the month with 117, followed by Greenwood Chevrolet, Austintown, with 106 units. Taylor Kia of Boardman reported the third-highest with 104 sold, Sweeney Chevrolet, Boardman, registered 102 new vehicle sales, and Toyota of Boardman reported the fifth-best with 84 new units sold.
