Wayne Savings Bank Opens First Office in Mahoning County
WOOSTER, Ohio – Wayne Savings Bancshares Inc., holding company for Wayne Savings Community Bank, has opened its first location in Mahoning County — a loan production office at 3770 Starrs Centre Drive in Canfield.
The office opened Oct. 3. A grand opening event is set for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday with a ribbon-cutting at noon in conjunction with the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber.
“We are excited for the opportunity to grow in Canfield and surrounding communities while also expanding our presence into Mahoning County,” said Wayne Savings Community Bank Executive Chairman Mark Witmer. “We are here to serve the many small to mid-size businesses seeking a community bank that can help find the right banking solutions to meet their unique needs. As a loan production office, Wayne Savings offers all types of loans including mortgage, home equity lines of credit, agricultural, and commercial loan solutions, as well as online and digital banking solutions.
On Oct. 20, the bank holding company reported record net income of $6.6 million for the year-to-date period ended Sept. 30, an increase of $954,000, or 16.9%, compared to $5.6 million for the first nine months of 2021.
“The Wayne Savings lending team set a record of $73.4 million of loan originations during the third quarter,” said President and CEO James R. VanSickle. “We have certainly benefitted from expanding the number of lenders available to serve our customers. We are fortunate to have a wonderful team of community bankers working tirelessly to meet the financial needs of our communities.”
Wayne Savings Community Bank, established in 1899, operates 12 full-service banking locations in the communities of Wooster, Ashland, Millersburg, Rittman, Lodi, North Canton, Creston, Fredericksburg and Washingtonville, Ohio.
The company plans to open its 13th branch by year-end in Dalton, Ohio.
