Racino VLT Play Up $11.4 Million in May
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Wagers on video lottery terminals in May at the Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course were up $11.4 million from a year earlier, the latest monthly report shows.
The monthly VLT revenue report, released by the Ohio Lottery Commission, shows credits played totaled $87.0 million last month, up from the $75.6 million reported in May 2015. For the first 11 months of the current fiscal year, credits played totaled $887.6 million.
Still, play was down some from April’s record $90.6 million.
“While we don’t comment on short-term, month-to-month revenues, we continue to be pleased with the long-term trends we’re seeing at our Ohio facilities,” Eric Schippers, senior vice president of Penn National Gaming Inc., said in response to a request for comment.
“Our management teams continue to execute on our ongoing strategy to provide a best-in-class gaming, entertainment and customer service experience for our guests,” he added.
Penn National Gaming opened the Austintown racino in September 2014.
Winnings last month totaled $77.6 million, up from $67.3 million a year earlier but down from $77.6 million in April.
Net win – the net revenues remaining after the payout of prizes – was $8.4 million in May, down from just over $8.9 million the month before but up from $7.8 million in May 2015.
Out of the net win, Penn National received $5.6 million as its commission for operating the racino, up from $5.2 million a year earlier but down from $5.9 million in in April.
