Mahoning Valley House Sales See Drop in January
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – January house sales in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties all are down from a year ago, with two of the three counties experiencing drops of more than a third, newly released figures show.
Mahoning County experienced the least-steep decline of the three counties in January, falling just 14.9% from a year earlier, the Youngstown Columbiana Association of Realtors reported. A total of 149 units were sold last month, compared with 175 in January 2022.
In Trumbull County, real estate agents sold 95 houses last month, compared with 146 a year earlier, a 34.9% drop. Columbiana County’s sales last month totaled 62 units, down from 62 in January 2022, a 33.9% drop.
Unsurprisingly, dollar volume in January was down from a year ago in all three counties, although the average sale price was down only in Trumbull and Columbiana counties.
Sales totaled $13.6 million in Trumbull County in January, down 38.6% from $22.2 million the year before. Columbiana County sales last month hit $5.6 million, off 42% from $9.6 million in January 2022.
Mahoning County’s sales totaled just under $25 million, down 11.3% from $28.2 million in January 2022.
The average sale price in Mahoning County was $167,658 in January, up 4.2% from $160,929 a year earlier.
Trumbull County’s average sale price last month was $143,054, down 5.7% from $151,703 in January 2022. Columbiana County’s average sale price was $135,624, off 12.3% from $154,651 a year ago.
