Village Quilts Welcomes Stitchers
CANFIELD – Village Quilts, housed in a historic home in the center of Canfield, promotes quilting as a generational, practical art form.
This August, Village Quilts will be part of the All Ohio Shop Hop. Participating shops will offer activities, projects and prizes to quilters and an exclusive fabric line found only at independent quilt shops. The event encourages quilters to find shops they have not visited and meet quilters from other areas.
Sisters Betty Aberson and Clare Neff combined their love of stitching and quilting to open Village Quilts in 2012. Since then, the shop has become a “quilting oasis,” Neff says.
To combat industrywide price increases and online-only retailers, the sisters keep a close eye on costs while offering high-quality products from manufacturers, distributors and authors not found in box stores.
The shop, open three days each week, offers machine and hand stitching instruction for novice and more experienced quilters. Its complete inventory is offered online with worldwide shipping available.
