Brite Awarded GM and Main Street Grant for Dave Grohl Alley Project

WARREN, Ohio — Brite Energy Innovators is among six grantees for General Motors Co. and Main Street America’s Main Street Grant program, the organization announced today.

Brite was awarded $25,000 for its Dave Grohl Alley Improvement Project.

“We’re truly excited to continue to improve one of the top tourist destinations in our region and build upon the partnership between stakeholders of the Alley and the City of Warren,” said Sara Daugherty, Brite’s chief of staff.

Brite plans to implement the Dave Grohl Alley Improvement Project over the summer and fall. Building upon recent investments from the Ohio Arts Council and local partners, this funding will allow for greater connectivity between clean energy concepts and public art through the lens of Rock & Roll.

Brite intends to install a moveable kinetic dance floor that will generate renewable energy to power technology demonstrations in the Alley and Brite’s offices.

In 2022, General Motors and Main Street America created the grant program to fund innovative place-making initiatives in local commercial districts near GM facilities. Grantees were selected based on the project’s place-making focus, innovation and creativity, inclusivity, feasibility, and replicability.

“General Motors is proud to have collaborated with Main Street America to support nonprofits and municipal government entities as they introduce place-making projects in their local communities,” said Terry Rhadigan, GM vice president of corporate giving. “We look forward to seeing these inclusive, innovative projects come to life over the coming months for each of these communities to enjoy.”

Main Street America and GM awarded six $25,000 place-making grants to nonprofit organizations and municipal government entities across the country. The other five awardees include:

• The Alley Project: Broadway’s Back Door, Lorain, Ohio

• Mejorar Marine Park, Tarrant, Texas

• Little 5 Points Plaza Patio, Fulton, Georgia

• A New Vision for Historic Dorr Street, Lucas, Ohio

• Foodie Commons, Flint, Michigan
