Growth Report 2: Food Network Champs Open Boardman Shop
BOARDMAN – Treats baked by Food Network champions Ellen Harvischak and Devin Bennett have returned to a Boardman storefront location.
Sweet Grace Anna’s Fancy Cakes and Bakes recently opened at 4927 Market St.
The retro-themed cake shop, operated by the founders of the former Clarencedale Cake Inc., specializes in all natural, all from scratch, custom decorated cakes, cupcakes, cookies, pastries and French macarons.
Closing their South Avenue location during the pandemic, the couple continued baking behind the scenes for their loyal customers, but jumped at the opportunity to launch a brick and mortar shop in the Terrance Plaza.
“There’s definitely a niche market for higher-end custom cakes in the Mahoning Valley,” Harvischak says. “People want a cake to be delicious, but sometimes it needs to be a showpiece for the event it represents,” she says. “We have done countless beautiful wedding, birthday, anniversary and other special occasion cakes over the years.”
Adds Bennett, “After thousands of cakes and many years in business, our quality speaks for itself. With baking as amazing as Ellen’s, I’ll always be a chubby hubby.”
Sweet Grace Anna’s offers walk-in service with cupcakes and other treats ready-to-buy on weekends.
Harvischak and Bennett competed on the Food Network show “Cake Wars” in 2016 and 2017, finishing in first and second place, respectively.
Advance cake orders may be called in and picked up Tuesday-Sunday.
