River Rock at the Amp to Feature Prince Tribute
WARREN, Ohio – Sunrise Entertainment will present Paint The Town Purple, featuring the Purple Xperience Tribute to Prince at the Warren Community Amphitheater July 29 as part of its River Rock at the Amp series.
The five-piece tribute band hailing from Minneapolis is led by Matt Fink (also known as Doctor Fink), a member of Prince and The Revolution from 1978 to 1991. Fink won two Grammy Awards in 1985 for the Purple Rain motion picture soundtrack and received another Grammy in 1986 for the album Parade: Music from the Motion Picture Under the Cherry Moon.
The Purple Xperience also features Marshall Charloff as front man for the group. Charloff “imaginatively styles the magic of Prince’s talent in an uncannily unmatched fashion with his appearance, vocal imitation, and multi-instrumental capacity on guitar and piano,” according to the Sunrise Entertainment news release.
A prize will be awarded to the attendee wearing the best purple outfit. Gates will open at 5 p.m. and an opening band is to be announced. Tickets are $9. More information is available at the River Rock at the Amp website.
