Building a Better Belmont Initiative to Host Inaugural Bike Ride
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Building a Better Belmont initiative will host a kick-off event May 21 in celebration of National Bike Month.
The event will introduce the group and its vision to transform Belmont Avenue into a destination for dining, entertainment, culture, retail and health care.
The community is invited to take part in the inaugural Bike Belmont, a bike ride from Charlie Staples Bar-B-Q, 372 W. Rayen Ave., to Giant Eagle in Liberty Township. Riders will then circle back to Charlie Staples, stopping at multiple businesses along the way.
Stops will include Goldie’s Flowers, Union Square Plaza, Colonial Plaza (Kravitz and K’Nafa), Handel’s Ice Cream, HD Davis CPAs and Liberty Plaza. Participants will be able to complete brief survey questions about the conditions of the corridor at each stop and enjoy small samples from local restaurants.
Current sponsors for Bike Belmont include the Rotary Club of Girard-Liberty, the Rotary Club of Youngstown, Phantom Fireworks, Mercy Health Foundation Mahoning Valley, Drs. Perni & Perni and Tolmiros Financial Design.
Riders will meet at Charlie Staples at 1:30 p.m. for registration and check-in. The ride will start at 2 p.m.
Riders will return to Charlie Staples at 4 p.m., and refreshments will be available at 4:30 p.m.
