The Update | Salem Super Cruise Returns; Artists of the Rust Belt Sale; Summer Art Camp

SALEM, Ohio – The Salem Super Cruise will return this week, starting Thursday, June 8, and running through Sunday, June 11.

The annual event, with its signature continuous cruise of muscle cars and hot rods along State Street, downtown, is a celebration of car culture.

The event will include car, bike and tractor shows, a garden-tractor pull, craft show, food and other vendors and live music on downtown streets.

It is open from noon to 11 p.m. Thursday and Friday; 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday; and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Summer Arts Camp for Youths

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – YourArts Summer Camp, previously known as Stambaugh Summer Arts Camp, will take place July 10-14 at Stambaugh Auditorium.

Its purpose is to increase children’s access to, knowledge of and appreciation for the arts.

It will culminate in the production of a full-scale musical production of “Rapunzel.”

The camp includes participation by the world-renowned Missoula Children’s Theatre, as well as Ballet Western Reserve, Lit Youngstown, Castle on a Cloud Entertainment, The MAC Experience, Opera Western Reserve, the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra and the Youngstown Playhouse.

Artists of the Rust Belt to Sell Works

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Artists of the Rust Belt will have an art sale from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, June 10 and 11, at B&O Station, 530 Mahoning Ave.

It will feature art, music and food and drink vendors.

An exhibition of art from Fairhaven School will be part of Saturday’s art market. Sunday is also Riverfest on the B&O Station grounds.

Led Zeppelin Concert Film at Robins

WARREN, Ohio – The Led Zeppelin concert film “The Song Remains the Same” will be screened at 7 p.m. June 16 at Robins Theatre. 

Tickets are $7, and all seats are general admission.

The 1976 film was shot during the band’s three-night stand of concerts at New York’s Madison Square Gardens in 1973. It also includes footage shot at Shepperton Studios.

“The Song Remains the Same” shows Led Zeppelin at the peak of its glory years. In addition to featuring performances of “Dazed and Confused,” “Whole Lotta Love” and “Stairway to Heaven,” the live footage is interspersed with elaborate fantasy sequences, backstage shenanigans and a glimpse of what the business side of such a large touring operation entails.

Phil Collins Tribute Show at Theater

WARREN, Ohio – Face Value: A Tribute to Phil Collins will come to Robins Theatre on Friday, Aug. 11, for an 8 p.m. performance.

Tickets range from $15 to $25, plus applicable fees, and will go on sale Friday, June 9, at 10 a.m. at robinstheatre.com and at the box office, 160 E. Market St.

Splash & Dash, Triathlon at Davis YMCA

BOARDMAN, Ohio – Two events will take place this weekend at Davis Family YMCA, 45 McClurg Road.

The Splash & Dash, a swim/run for children ages 5 to 12, will take place Saturday from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.

The annual Spring Classic sprint triathlon for adults will take place Sunday at 7:30 a.m. This event consists of a 500-yard swim, 14-mile bike ride and a 5K run. Contestants can enter as an individual or a team relay.
