WRTA Seeks Entries for Art on the Move Campaign

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Local artists can have their creations selected to be recognized and appear on the side of a Western Reserve Transit Authority bus.

The Art on the Move campaign is seeking entries from artists, and nine works of art featuring public transportation in the Valley will be chosen for a mural covering the side of a bus.

“Riding a WRTA bus can expose you to local artwork of all types and, perhaps, even allow you to appreciate it even more,” said Dean Harris, executive director of the WRTA. “The talent of our local creators is amazing.”

Winning entries will also be featured on social media, on TV spots and on the WRTA giant digital sign above Federal Station downtown. The creator will receive a $100 Visa gift card.

The volunteer chairpersons for the campaign who will select the winning entries are Joyce Mistovich, director of education for The Butler Institute of American Art; Patrick McGlone, owner and artist of The Overall Paint Company; and Kevin Willis, principal architect at Strollo Architects LLC.

The deadline to register is June 30, and all artwork, both physical and digital entries, must be submitted by July 7. Only artwork from creators who registered will be accepted. The mobile bus gallery will be unveiled at an event in August.
