Premier Bank Collecting Shoes, Donations for Area Students
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Premier Bank and the Salvation Army of Mahoning County have teamed up to provide new tennis shoes for students in the Youngstown and Campbell city school districts this fall.
Customers can drop off new pairs of shoes at participating banking locations in Mahoning County through July 31, said Diana Timkovich, Premier corporate communications coordinator. The branches will also display a QR code that will allow customers to make a monetary donation directly to the Salvation Army for the purchase of new shoes.
Through the Salvation Army of Mahoning County’s Shoes for Scholars program, the shoes will be distributed to students in grades K-12 for the upcoming school year.
“We do like to support local initiatives, so anytime anything is presented to us, we obviously take a look and see how we can help with that,” Timkovich said, noting the Salvation Army approached the bank with the idea.
“There’s definitely a need … so we wanted to step in and see if we can help,” she said.
Participating Premier branches are Boardman, Canfield, Kirk Road, Liberty, McCartney Road, Newport Glen, Poland, Struthers and the Youngstown main branch downtown.
