Shenango River Watchers to Unveil Fishing Pier
SHARON, Pa. — A ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned for 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the new wheelchair-accessible fishing pier in Bicentennial Park.
Shenango River Watchers this week announced completion of the fishing pier, a $58,000 project that has been in the making for nearly 14 years.
“We are so excited that the pier is now complete. We have always seen the potential of this wonderful asset, our river. However there were too many people who could not enjoy it due to physical limitations” said Jennifer Barborak, one of the founders of the Shenango River Watchers.
“We’re pleased to see the pier already being used by fisherman, and some people who just wanted to come out and see the completed project,” she added.
Major donors for the project include Mark and Steven Jubelirer of Reyers, HHSDR, Rien Construction and Donna Winner.
Membership to support the efforts of Shenango River Watchers is $10 annually for an individual, $20 for a family and $35 for a business. More information can be found at the organization’s website or by calling Monica King at 724 342 5453.
