Struthers Receives Recognition from America in Bloom

STRUTHERS, Ohio – The America in Bloom program recently recognized the city for its community vitality.

Top honors for the 2023 America in Bloom program were announced at the organization’s annual symposium and awards celebration Sept. 28-30 in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

“Congratulations to Struthers for the excellent work making your community more beautiful and vibrant,” said Laura Kunkle, executive director of America in Bloom.

America in Bloom representatives visited the Mahoning County city in June as part of the nonprofit organization’s efforts to support beautification initiatives across the country.

All participants were evaluated on seven criteria: community vitality, overall impression, environmental initiatives, heritage celebration, urban forestry, landscaped areas and floral impact.

“America in Bloom is helping communities of all sizes achieve their potential,” Kunkle said. “Every year our participants raise the bar, and the accomplishments and progress shown by this year’s group is remarkable. These are, without a doubt, some of the best places to live, work and visit.
