ODNR Issues 4 Permits in Utica Shale
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Ohio Department of Natural Resources issued four horizontal well permits in the Utica shale play during the week ended July 30, while the rig count stood at 15, the agency reported Monday.
According to ODNR’s latest update, Gulfport Energy Corp. received three well permits, and Ascent Resources was awarded one permit for a well. All four were issued for Jefferson County.
To date, 2,205 horizontal well permits have been issued in Ohio’s Utica, ODNR reports. Of that number, 1,764 are drilled and 1,350 placed in production.
There were no permits in Columbiana, Mahoning or Trumbull counties in the northern Utica, according to ODNR.
Nor were permits issued for wells in neighboring Lawrence and Mercer counties in western Pennsylvania, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.
