Columbiana Port Authority Awards Contract for Speculative Building
LEETONIA, Ohio – A Columbiana contractor was awarded the construction contract for a new spec building for the Columbiana County Port Authority during a special meeting Friday.
The $4.4 million contract was awarded to C. Tucker Cope & Associates Inc. for construction of a 63,224-square-foot metal building with an office bump out located at the CCPA’s industrial park on Cherry Fork Drive.
With board member Nick Amato excused from the meeting, held at the new Global Investment Hub site, the vote was unanimous in favor of the resolution.
The building will be made available for purchase or lease for commercial use.
While a loan will be secured for the project, Executive Director Penny Traina said the port authority is also in the process of applying for loans that evolve into grant funding while continuing to look for other sources of financial assistance for the construction.
In observance of October as Manufacturing Month, Traina announced the port authority and Brittain Motors will recognize Columbiana County manufacturers at the dealership located at 57 E. Martin St., East Palestine, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 31.
She said they expect to serve 200-plus lunches, as well as door prizes and T-shirts, to those involved in manufacturing.
