YNDC, MBAC to Present Free Contractors Workshop
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corporation and the Minority Business Assistance Center at the Youngstown Business Incubator are offering a free contractors workshop for those interested in learning more about becoming a full-lead abatement contractor.
The event will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 15 at the Youngstown Business Incubator.
As the YNDC is looking to hire general contractors, plumbers, electricians and roofers, Tiffany Sokol, the organization’s housing director, will discuss a county program that offers free training for contractors.
“YNDC contracts several million dollars worth of construction work each year and has many opportunities for contractors, especially those with lead certifications, to bid on and win contracts to do this important work,” Sokol said. “I will be sharing the process for applying to work for YNDC as a contractor as well as a new opportunity for contractors to obtain their lead RRP certification and other lead certifications at no cost to them.”
Support is also available for minority-, women- and veteran-friendly-owned businesses through YBI’s Supply Chain Diversity program, which offers procurement opportunities through anchor institutions, universities, government, industry leaders and more.
Karrington Griffin, director of the YBI Supply Chain Diversity program, will discuss these opportunities at the event.
“There are so many benefits to partnering with the Supply Chain Diversity program at the YBI,” he said. “With this event, I hope that suppliers and contractors take advantage of the opportunity for inclusion, growth and the expansion of their small business.”
Registration for the event is required HERE by Nov. 14.
