Hermitage Park Gets $177K in State Funds for Improvements
HARRISBURG, Pa. – The state of Pennsylvania has released $177,327 to improve the accessible playground at Rodney White Olympic Park in Hermitage.
This funding comes from the Commonwealth Financing Authority’s Greenway, Trails and Recreation Program, which funds projects for planning, acquisition, development, rehabilitation and repair of greenways, trails, open spaces and parks.
“Rodney White Olympic Park has been a popular place with Mercer County’s kids for a quarter of a century,” said state Rep. Parke Wentling, R-Mercer. “This funding will help pay for improvements to the park, including resurfacing and replacing the benches and playground equipment. This park is named after Hermitage’s own Olympic gold medalist. These improvements will help the playground continue to live up to his name.”
White won a gold medal in archery at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta.
