Rocky Ridge Garden to Unveil Little Free Library

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Rocky Ridge Neighborhood Association will unveil its Little Free Library at a ribbon cutting 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 7 at the group’s community garden, 138 S. Hazelwood Ave.

The Little Free Library is modeled after the association’s maple sugar house in Mill Creek Park’s James L. Wick Jr. Recreation Area. It was designed by local artist Davey Jones, who operates Chisel.Me.Timbers.

The project was partially funded by the Rotary Club of Youngstown as part of its plan to build more than 30 in the Mahoning Valley. The Little Free Library in Rocky Ridge joins more than 42,000 worldwide – in all 50 states and 40 countries – and will house copies of The Recipes of Youngstown cookbooks.

Appetizers from the cookbooks will be available, as will extra copies of the cookbook itself. The Public Library of Youngstown Mahoning County will also bring its pop-up library and design plans for the new Michael Kusalaba Branch on Mahoning Avenue.
