BOARDMAN, Ohio – Meridian HealthCare achieved several milestones in 2023 and added to its partnerships, says Renee Amacher, director of communications.
Meridian began offering electroencephalogram transcranial magnetic stimulation for mental health treatment among veterans and first responders.
The treatment helps those struggling with post-traumatic stress disorder, brain injuries, concussions, depression, anxiety and sleep disorders. It is a noninvasive, painless and drug-free option that measures and analyzes brain waves to identify harmful disruptions in the brain network. Through a customized treatment plan and magnetic stimulation, it corrects the brain waves to treat conditions.
Also in 2023, Meridian partnered with AmeriHealth Caritas Ohio on an innovative chronic pain management pilot program, Amacher says. The pilot program focuses on behavioral health and medication-free treatment for chronic, noncancer pain in a primary care setting. Meridian plans to expand the program to all Medicaid patients.
Meridian also added to its partnerships by teaming up with Athletix in Columbiana to educate young athletes on the importance of mental health care, Amacher says.
Additionally, significant growth was seen in the withdrawal management (detox) and inpatient treatment programs, she adds.
Meridian also renovated its South Campus to add treatment beds and provide additional services for those struggling with opioid addiction. The renovations allowed the organization to take on new patients and staff. As a result, Meridian doubled its occupancy and continues to offer 24/7 admission.
