Akron Children’s Promotes Kosiewicz and Williams
AKRON, Ohio– Joy Kosiewicz and Kara Williams were recently promoted to the newly-created roles of vice president, associate general counsel at Akron Children’s.
“Both Joy and Kara are seasoned and accomplished attorneys, with Joy practicing law for more than 26 years and Kara with 16 years of experience,” says Kim Moses, chief legal officer at Akron Children’s. “Joy has made significant contributions to the hospital’s successful strategic growth, and Kara has been a strong advocate for the hospital, managing all aspects of our litigation portfolio and outside counsels.”
In her new position, Kosiewicz has primary responsibility for corporate transactions, health care related matters and the day-to-day operations of the legal department. She joined Akron Children’s in 2017 as associate general counsel and in 2023 provided leadership as the interim chief legal officer.
Kosiewicz earned her bachelor’s of science degree at Allegheny College and received her juris doctorate from Case Western Reserve University School of Law. She lives in Bath Township with her husband, Joe, and four children.
Williams has primary responsibility for litigation and claims management matters. She joined Akron Children’s in 2020 as associate general counsel, managing all aspects of the hospital’s litigation portfolio and outside counsels. In her new role, Williams will continue to manage litigation and claims, as well as provide oversight and leadership for the hospital’s risk management functions and professionals.
Williams received her bachelor’s degree at West Virginia University, her master’s degree at the University of Kentucky and her juris doctorate degree at the University of Cincinnati. She lives in West Akron with her husband, Jim Sandy, and their two sons.
