Forbes Names 717 No. 1 Credit Union in Ohio
WARREN, Ohio – For the third consecutive year, Forbes has listed 717 Credit Union among America’s Best Credit Unions In Each State, ranking it No. 1 in Ohio for 2024.
“It is a privilege that once again our member-owners and the community have acknowledged us as the premier credit union in the state of Ohio,” said John Demmler, 717 president and CEO. “For 67 years, our members have trusted us with their financial well-being. We are thankful for that trust and loyalty and commend our entire team’s dedication toward living out our purpose and mission to help people improve their lives financially and support the communities we serve.”
Only about 3% of credit unions across the country are recognized each year by the award, which is presented by Forbes and Statista Inc., “the world leading statistics portal and industry ranking provider,” a news release states.
To determine the rankings, Statista surveyed about 26,000 U.S. residents about their current and past banks and credit unions where they have checking or savings accounts, or know through the experiences of friends and family.
Respondents were asked to share their level of satisfaction with banks or credit unions and their willingness to recommend them to others. They were also asked to rate the banks or credit unions based on criteria including customer service, the quality of financial advice offered by representatives, fee structures, ease of navigating digital and in-person services and the degree of trust the financial institutions inspired.
The past three years were taken into consideration, with more recent data and responses from current customers weighted more heavily than older data and responses from former customers, friends and family.
Additionally, Statista looked at online reviews and ratings posted between February 2021 and March 2024, with that research accounting for 20% of scoring.
717 Credit Union, which was founded in 1957, has 13 branches and more than 120,000 members. It is open to anyone living or working in six northeastern Ohio counties, including Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana.
