$775K Awarded for Hermitage, Sharon Traffic Signal Upgrades
HERMITAGE, Pa. – The cities of Hermitage and Sharon will receive a combined $775,000 for traffic signal updates.
The funds, announced Wednesday, were made available through the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s Green Light-Go program.
The city of Hermitage will receive a grant of nearly $430,000 for traffic signal updates at Broadway and Council avenues, along with the traffic signals at the intersection of Broadway Avenue and Mercer Avenue/Church Street/Emerson Avenue.
The city of Sharon will receive more than $345,000 for traffic signal improvements at Service, South Myers and Stambaugh avenues, as well as Smith Avenue and Pine Hollow Boulevard.
“Green Light-Go grants are vital for helping traffic flow and making intersections safer for both drivers and pedestrians,” said state Rep. Parke Wentling, R-7th.
Green Light-Go grants are provided as reimbursement to municipalities for updates to improve the efficiency and operation of existing traffic signals. These projects will be funded through the appropriation for fiscal year 2024-2025.
