Ohio TechCred Sets Records in Latest Round

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The state’s TechCred program has set single-round records in the number of employers approved for funding and credentials requested.

The Governor’s Office of Workforce Transformation announced Tuesday that 524 employers were approved for funding through the TechCred program in July, and the funding will provide the opportunity for Ohioans to earn 6,747 tech-focused credentials.

“This round marks the largest number of employers awarded and the highest amount of credentials requested since the program’s inception in 2019,” said Lt. Gov. Jon Husted, who serves as director of the Governor’s Office of Workforce Transformation. “The TechCred program continues to reach new milestones, proving the need for strong tech talent and training opportunities like this that help Ohioans and Ohio businesses across our state.”

Artificial intelligence was one of the top industries awarded during the latest round, with 1,061 credentials awarded.

TechCred helps businesses address their workforce needs by funding training opportunities to upskill current or prospective employees. Businesses of all sizes from any industry are eligible to receive up to $30,000 per application period and up to $180,000 per year in reimbursement when credentials are earned.

The current and 28th application period for Ohio employers opened Sept. 2 and will close at 3 p.m. Sept. 30. Employers can apply HERE.
