Youngstown Playhouse Celebrates 100 Years

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Board members and supporters of The Youngstown Playhouse gathered at the theater to celebrate its 100th season with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

In addition, John Cox, board president of the playhouse, announced a new initiative made possible through a $60,000 grant from The Youngstown Foundation. The initiative, dubbed “Hearts for the Arts,” will provide 150 free tickets for every main stage show at the playhouse this centennial season.

“We’re thrilled to be here for our 100th season,” Cox said. “To be able to have a continuously running community theater is not an easy task. There have been theaters over the last several years, big ones, professional ones, shutting down, so we’re very happy and honored that we’re here representing the people who came before us and our community now.”
