Jason Tarr to Take Over State Farm Agency in Poland

POLAND, Ohio – Jason Tarr is the Mahoning Valley’s newest State Farm Insurance agent.

He assumed control of an agency at 727 E. Western Reserve Road on Oct. 1. The agency was previously owned by Jan Cefalu, who retired nine months ago.

The move represents a career shift for Tarr, who spent the past 25 years leading the investing, wealth and business banking segments of several Fortune 500 firms, including Citizens Bank, Capital One, KeyBank and Santander.

“Despite my success in the corporate world, my true passion lies in working directly with individuals, families and small business owners to help them plan, protect and invest in their future,” the Poland resident said. “This passion has driven my decision to leave the corporate arena and focus on providing tailored financial education and support to my neighbors by becoming a State Farm agent.”

Tarr said he chose State Farm because of the company’s focus on helping customers and its business structure, in which the agent is self-employed and controls the customer experience. His agency will provide insurance and financial services.

Tarr’s credentials include the ChFC designation, conferred by the American College of Financial Services, which is an industry-recognized mark of excellence that demonstrates an individual’s breadth and depth of knowledge in key areas of financial planning, such as insurance, taxation, retirement, estate planning, behavioral finance, nontraditional family structures and small business planning.

He also holds the certified financial planner designation from Washington-based CFP Board.

Tarr said the mission of his agency will be to protect and preserve what matters most to his clients and to guide them toward a prosperous future.

“We will aim to educate, and we are committed to providing personalized service and solutions tailored to meet the unique needs of each customer,” he said.

“In short, we help you protect against what can go wrong so that you can invest in what can go right.”

Tarr is a graduate of the University of Akron and has earned certificates from Cannon Financial Institute in Georgia and The Ohio State University.

His office will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday, and evenings and Saturdays by appointment. To learn more about his agency, call or text Tarr at 330 726 2112, or click HERE.

Tarr is known for more than just his financial expertise. Before entering the banking industry, he was a comedian early in his career.

After graduating from college, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue a comedy career, opening shows for Jeff Dunham and other major artists.

He and his wife moved back to the Mahoning Valley about a decade ago.

He still dabbles in the arts and theater. He is the playwright and producer of the comedic stage show “Couples Therapy,” which has been performed in cities throughout the East Coast and also in the Youngstown area.
