Local Partners Join Armstrong to Collect 27,000 Pounds of Food

NORTH LIMA, Ohio — Armstrong’s seventh annual Avenge Hunger Month, held in September, saw the collection of over 27,000 pounds of food, nearly $24,500 in monetary donations, and 158 volunteer hours. These contributions came from customers, employees, and community partners, benefiting local feeding programs.

Since its inception, Avenge Hunger Month has collected nearly 194,000 pounds of food and $114,000 in donations to support more than 200 community feeding programs across six states, including Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York, West Virginia, Kentucky, and Maryland.

The event is part of Armstrong’s broader initiative, Breaking Bread, which started in 2010. The program aims to provide food, money, time, and awareness to address food insecurity. Armstrong has also raised awareness through social media, email campaigns, and commercials on the Armstrong Neighborhood Channel.

Avenge Hunger Month coincides with National Hunger Action Month, drawing attention to the issue of food insecurity. Donations of food or money can be made at any of Armstrong’s 13 local offices.

Community partners in the Mahoning Valley collectively raised 2,200 pounds of food and nearly $2,000 in donations, which were directed to Second Harvest Food Bank and the Youngstown Community Food Center. Partners included Sparkle Markets, Giant Eagle, Grocery Outlet, Gateways To Better Living, OH WOW! science center, Davis Family YMCA, First National Bank in Liberty, Mercy Health Foundation, Livi Steel, and Molly Maid of Mahoning/Trumbull Counties.
