HBK Marks 75 Years in Special Section of Stories and Videos
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – In the coming days, The Business Journal will roll out on our home page stories and videos from a sponsored content series that tells how the accounting firm that began in 1949 as Hill Barth & King grew, diversified and expanded its expertise and market reach. The stories also are published in a 10-page section contained in our November print edition.
Today the firm is known as HBK CPAs & Consultants and includes HBKS Wealth Advisors, which provides financial services to individuals and businesses, and Vertilocity, which provides IT consulting and management.
HBK’s 75-year history touches upon the post-World War II boom and early business strategies that set the firm apart from others – a tradition of excellence that continues today.
Present at the beginning and central to HBK’s growth is Wallace “Wally” King, a combat pilot during World War II who returned home and co-founded the company along with Rowland Hill and William Barth.
King, who turns 101 on Oct. 31, shares his story and insights in this special 75th anniversary feature. Others helping to tell HBK’s story are Principals Phil Carlon, who joined the firm in 1980; Jim Rosa, who joined in 1986; and Jim Dascenzo, who arrived at the firm in 1988.
