Memories of Christmas Past Exhibition to Return

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – A Mahoning Valley tradition will return Saturday when the Memories of Christmas Past exhibition opens at the Arms Family Museum.

Seven rooms of the museum will be decked out in vintage Christmas decorations for the exhibition, which is in its 16th year. The exhibition creates a grand and cheerful atmosphere designed to evoke memories.

The museum is a mansion that was once the home of Youngstown businessman Wilford Arms and his wife, Olive.

Presented by the Mahoning Valley Historical Society, the exhibition will run through Dec. 31.

Volunteers and staff at the museum, 648 Wick Ave., have worked for three months decorating the rooms.

Along with the displays, visitors can also explore Santa’s Village (also known as the Hands-on History Room), which offers many activities for all ages. Guests can also get a head start on holiday shopping, as two gift shops will be filled with vintage and modern items for sale.

Admission is $10 ($9 for seniors age 60 and older and college students with an ID; $8 for children ages 3 to 18; and free for children under age 3, active military and veterans with an ID and MVHS members), and includes a visit to Tyler History Center , 325 W. Federal St., downtown.

From Nov. 16-24, guests can get two admissions for the price of one by bringing a canned good to donate to Project Feed Our Valley.

Memories of Christmas Past is open from noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday.

Starting Dec. 5, it will be open from noon to 7 p.m. every Thursday through Dec. 26.

The exhibition is closed Mondays and holidays.
