Financial Education Program Available for Ohio Students
COLUMBUS, Ohio – PNC Bank and EVERFI from Blackbaud are providing a free financial education curriculum for Ohio high school students.
The program is designed to teach essential financial skills and empower both students and their families to make informed financial decisions. In addition to in-class learning modules, the program will include supplemental webinars for parents to assist in their child’s financial education and classroom visits by PNC team members.
“By reaching students earlier in their financial journeys, we’re preparing them to make real-life financial decisions that lead to a lifetime of financial wellness,” said Matt Evans, head of out-of-branch sales and service at PNC Bank. “Financial literacy at an early age is a critical building block for a stable financial future, and we’re pleased to join EVERFI in providing this valuable resource to Ohio school students.”
More than 30 Ohio school districts and 2,500 students are currently participating after the program launched in September. The curriculum program also is available in Georgia and Florida.
According to a news release, the EVERFI curriculum program is rolling out in all of PNC’s seven Ohio regions, including in Youngstown, which is led by Ted Schmidt, regional president.
Ray Martinez, co-founder and president of EVERFI, said the program helps enable students to feel prepared and confident to make financial decisions and sets them on the path to financial wellness in the future.
The student program is one of several PNC initiatives developed in partnership with EVERFI to address the gap in financial learning as the bank works with community-based nonprofit organizations to help provide workshops in personal finance, home ownership and small business.
Mobile branches have been deployed in low- to moderate-income neighborhoods to provide free financial education sessions and resources as well.
