Brookfield Giant Eagle to Become Sparkle Market
BROOKFIELD, Ohio – The Giant Eagle supermarket in the Maybrook Shopping Mall here will become a Sparkle Market May 28, Tony Modarelli, president of the chain, announced this morning.
Modarelli is also the owner of the Sparkle Market on South Avenue in Boardman, the store on Parkman Road in Warren, and the Reynolds store in Transfer, Pa. And he is the president of the board of directors for the Sparkle Markets Association Inc., a purchasing and marketing group of independent grocers established locally in in 1955.
The Brookfield supermarket, 7229 Warren-Sharon Road, will keep the Giant Eagle pharmacy.
The store will close at 6 p.m. Monday, May 25 as a Giant Eagle and re-open as a Sparkle store at 8 a.m. Thursday, May 28, Modarelli said in a press release.
In a prepared statement, he said, “With the needs of the community in mind, we decided that it was time to change the course of the Brookfield supermarket and reintroduce Sparkle Market.”
Calls to Modarelli seeking additional information were not returned.
