Home Sales Up YTD in Mahoning, Trumbull
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Sales of single-family homes in Trumbull and Mahoning counties through April are up by more than 10% compared with the first four months of 2014, data released Monday show.
According to the Centralized Real Estate Information Services Multiple Listing Service, 743 single-family homes were sold though April in Mahoning County, up 10.9% from the 670 sold during the first four months of last year.
In Trumbull County, 589 single-family units were through April 30, compared with the 521 sold during the first four months of 2014.
In Columbiana County, home sales were down slightly, by 4.4%, during the first four months of this year, when 196 were sold, compared with the 205 sold during the same period last year.
The numbers are based on sales statistics collected from boards of realtors in an eight-county region that includes Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties
In April, both Mahoning and Trumbull counties saw gains in home sales from a year earlier, while month-over-month sales declined in Columbiana County.
In Mahoning County, 223 single-family dwellings were sold last month, up from the 210 sold in April 2014 and nearly matching the 225 sold in March. In Trumbull County, 177 houses were sold in April, up from the 153 sold a year earlier as well as from the 164 sold in March.
In Columbiana County, 53 houses were sold in April, down from the 67 sold a year earlier although up from the 46 sold in March.
The average selling price for a home in both Mahoning and Trumbull counties rose last month compared to a year earlier, while declining in Columbiana County.
In Mahoning County, the average selling price in April was $98,070, up from $92,586 but down from $106,973 in March. Trumbull County’s average last month was $90,575, up from $84,559 a year earlier and from $85,273 in March.
Columbiana County’s average sale price in April was $99,611, down from $112,398 a year earlier but up from $88,290 in March.
