Brown Makes First Two Cabinet Picks
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Mayor Jamael Tito Brown completed his first official workday at City Hall Tuesday by formally announcing his first two selections for his cabinet.
In an email sent shortly after 4 p.m. Tuesday, Brown named attorney Jeff Limbian as his law director and Kyle Miasek as interim finance director.
Brown selected Limbian – who previously served as law director and city prosecutor – following a review by his transition team and an interview by the mayor.
“He was the person who best fit my administration,” Brown said.
Miasek, who served as deputy finance director under the city’s former finance director, David Bozanich, will head the finance department while the city conducts a national search for a permanent finance director. No one applied for the position.
Brown first aid Saturday following his swearing-in ceremony that he would name Miasek as interim finance director.
The mayor said he did not plan to make any additional cabinet announcements this week. Among the posts yet to be filled are police chief, fire chief, city prosecutor, water commissioner, deputy director of public works, building and grounds commissioner and parks and recreation director.
Brown said his first day was largely spent meeting city employees, getting briefed on what was happening within the various city departments and addressing personal employment issues such as insurance and other paperwork. “It was productive,” he said.
A formal inaugural charity ball for Brown will take place Jan. 27 at Stambaugh Auditorium, according to an email sent Tuesday from the Jamael Tito Brown for Mayor Committee.
The event will feature a VIP gathering, heavy hors d’oeuvres, dancing and live entertainment. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with the program beginning at 7 p.m.
Cost to attend the event is $75 per person. Sponsorships range from $250 to $1,500, and program ads run from $20 to $1,000.
