VLT Revenue Soars Past Prior Record in March

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Wagering on video lottery terminals at Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course in Austintown hit record levels in March, blowing past $100 million last month.

The Austintown racino, which is operated by Penn National Gaming Inc.in Wyomissing, Pa., beat the previous record month by nearly $10 million, according to VLT results released Monday afternoon by the Ohio Lottery Commission.

In March, VLT play at the Austintown racino last month hit $109.74 million, up 9.8% from the $99.95 million in March 2017 – the previous record holder — and up from $92.59 million in February.

Play at the Austintown racino was up slightly from the 9.7% increase year-over-year reported statewide last month. VLT play in Ohio totaled $1.04 billion in March.

Bettors at the Austintown racino in March took home winnings totaling just over $97 million, compared with $88.68 million a year earlier and up from nearly $82 million in February.

Net win – what is left when credits won and promotional play credits are subtracted from the total credits played – was $11.38 million in March. That compared to $9.52 million in February and $10.10 million in March 2017.

Penn National’s share of net win was $7.53 million in March, up from $6.30 million in February and $6.68 million in March 2017.
