UAW Local 1112 Votes Green as New President

LORDSTOWN, Ohio – UAW Local 1112 will have a change in leadership as members voted David Green as the new local president. Green replaces Glenn Johnson, who served two terms.

Green is the former president of UAW Local 1714, which earlier this year was merged with Local 1112. Calls to Green were not immediately answered. In a call to the union hall, requests for Green were forwarded to the president’s voicemail.

Following the merger, UAW Local 1112 has roughly 3,000 members at General Motors Lordstown Complex, Kmart’s local distribution center, Jamestown Industries and Magna Seating Systems.

GM Lordstown, the largest workplace represented by 1112, manufactures the Chevrolet Cruze. Sales of the sedan have steadily fallen over the past year as sales of trucks and SUVs rebounded. The plant’s next contract negotiations are in 2019, Johnson said in an interview with The Business Journal earlier this year.
