New Historical Markers Coming to Central Square
YOUNGSTOWN – Four new markers providing historical and architectural information about Central Square and its cornerstone buildings will be unveiled Friday at 4 p.m. during a press event on Central Square.
The ribbon-cutting is sponsored by Youngstown CityScape and the Mahoning Valley Historical Society and is open to the public.
“We are excited to join with the Mahoning Valley Historical Society in unveiling these markers to the public,” said Sharon Letson, executive director of Youngstown CityScape. “We recognize that our partnership with the both Historical Society and Ohio History Connection have been key to making these markers a reality in our downtown.”
The Ohio History Connection administers the historical marker program.
Friday’s ribbon-cutting coincides with the MVHS/Ohio History Connection’s “Amazing History Race: Mahoning Valley,” which begins at 5 p.m. at the Tyler History Center.
Youngstown CityScape is an independent community development corporation committed to the revitalization and beautification of downtown Youngstown.
