Community Legal Aid Updates Online Application Portal
AKRON, Ohio – Thanks to a new online portal, Community Legal Aid has made it easier for clients to apply for and receive legal assistance.
Among the new features of the Akron-based nonprofit’s application system is a mobile-friendly design, information on other resources available to clients and informing applicants sooner in the process if their issue is something Community Legal Aid can’t help with.
“We see tens of thousands of applications each year,” said Executive Director Steven McGarrity in a release. “We would love to help everyone, but unfortunately, it’s just not possible. But this lets us at least let people know earlier in the process if we can’t help them.”
Providing additional resources, he added, is also important to the mission of the organization, which offers free legal services to low-income individuals in Columbiana, Mahoning, Medina, Portage, Stark, Summit, Trumbull and Wayne counties.
“Our goal is to do the best we can do for any client who comes to us,” McGarrity said. “Even if we don’t have an attorney to help with their particular issue, we want to be able to help them in some way. Helping them learn about their issue and what other resources are out there is at least a start.”
