Warren Receives $35,000 Litter Management Grant
WARREN, Ohio – The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has awarded Warren a $35,000 grant to start its Tire Amnesty program.
Tire Amnesty is intended to encourage residents to safely recycle their used tires free of charge.
Tires can be dropped off at the city environmental department, 613 Main St., from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. weekdays. Those who drop their tires off are limited to five per month per household and must show proof of residency.
“Warren has had a long-standing issue with illegal dumping and it’s time for it to stop,” Mayor Doug Franklin said in a release. “This grant will allow the city and its volunteer partners to clean up problem areas and initiate new litter prevention strategies.”
The program will run until funds from the grant run out, Franklin said, adding that volunteers from Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership and other neighborhood associations will help in the clean up efforts.
