Butler Hosts Retrospective of Work by Kim Novak
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – As part of the Butler Institute of American Art’s centennial celebration, the works of actress Kim Novak will be on display at the museum’s Howland branch June 16 through Oct. 6.
The exhibit is a retrospective of the actress’ poetry and works across a wide range of media, including watercolor, photography, sculpture and stained glass. It opens June 16 with a Meet the Artist reception 1 to 3 p.m.
Best known for her roles in “Vertigo,” “The Man with the Golden Arm” and “Picnic,” Novak retired from acting in 1991 and has since dedicated herself to creating visual arts.
“It has always amazed me that there are individuals capable of excelling in two different art forms,” said the Butler’s executive director, Lou Zona, in a statement. “She is truly gifted, not only in technique but also in creative energies which characterize her work.”
