Giving back has been a hallmark of “Joe” Dickey Electric Inc. since Joe Dickey Jr. started the company 63 years ago, says Eric Carlson, president.

From work with area organizations like the United Way and community schools to home-building trips to South America, it’s a commitment that Carlson will continue as he assumes majority ownership of the company.

“I grew up in this business and saw how they were involved and saw how they affected the communities,” he says. “To see what you guys, what the United Way is able to do, coming together in a united front to be able to do the good that it does is just absolutely amazing.”

In his interview with Roxann Sebest, Eric Carlson discusses the United Way’s impact on the community that he’s seen first-hand, from the time the Dickeys assisted him with his Eagle Scout project when he was 15, to how programs like Success By 6 and Success After 6 benefit area schools.
