William Shivers came from a large family that didn’t have much, so he makes it a point to give back when he can. The regional president of Huntington Bank has gone into schools for the United Way of Youngstown and Mahoning Valley‘s Success After 6 program, which as afforded him some special moments, he says.

“A lot of times, the students will come up and give you a hug and tell you ‘thank you.’ And I think it’s them reaching out to say, ‘Listen, we need help. We want help,’ ” Shivers says. “Quite honestly, that’s very fulfilling.”

In Shivers’ Change Makers video interview with Roxann Sebest, he says Huntington employees volunteer time and money to support United Way programs.

“Huntington believes in making people’s lives better, helping businesses thrive and strengthening communities where we serve,” he says. “We’re aligned with the United Way’s mission.
